How LCD works

How LCD works

Liquid crystal display,or LCD is the technology used for screens such as computer screens, Tablets, T.v. screens and watchers.

LCD displays uses two sheets of polarizing material with a liquid crystal solution between them. An electric current passed through the liquid causes it to align so that light cannot pass through them. Each crystal, therefore, is like a shutter, either allowing light to pass through or blocking the light.
Frank Matthews Leslie and Jerald Ericksen created the modern theory of nematic liquid crystals in the late 1960’s that is now known as the   Erickson/Leslie theory.George H.Heilmeier builted on their work and invented the display screens. The LCD screen is more energy efficient and can be disposed of more safely than original screens.

Developed in the 1960’s LCD has become the most popular display in modern devices today. Im very proud to be related to someone who contributed to the invention of technology that is used world wide.
